It’s Surgery Eve, and for the past two days I’ve tried to get everything done that I won’t be able to do, or at least won’t be able to do without great difficulty. Yesterday I had one last run, and every time I needed to walk up any stairs, I skipped a step. Last night I slept on both sides and my stomach. Today I mostly danced around my house like a complete idiot. I can honestly say that I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready for an event in my entire life. (Probably an overstatement, but I feel the exaggeration adds a certain je ne sais quoi.)
I plan to make a great effort to post as often as is possible regarding the trials and tribulations of my healing process – and other happenings that I’m sure will sneak in. I’m supposed to keep a journal for my physical therapy, so I figured the blog would suffice. Perhaps others out there suffering from the same injury will find some comfort in my updates, that is unless the doctors accidentally amputate my leg. I would still blog, though; I’m a trooper like that. And I promise to try to jazz up some of the more boring posts, i.e. “Today I went to work, I came home, I made dinner…with one armed tied behind my back! Huzzah!”
See ya in 2013 peeps and homies!
